Resident Artist Paints Barley Stacks Container
If you have visited the Cellar Door recently you may have noticed something different on your way in.
Outside our sheds, you will find a shipping container which has been creatively turned into a piece of art. Our resident artist, Loraine Fromm, worked for more than a month to make it what it is today. The container first arrived in October 2014 looking a little worse for wear. After a few coats of white paint, the mural was ready to be started on the 27th of May. Painting as often as she could, having to stop for rain and bad weather the mural was finished on the 8th of July; 4 days before our annual Gourmet Day!
The inspiration for the mural? The winery of course! Loraine used a photo she had found of the winery and after doing a practice run on canvas she was ready for the real deal. Being such a large project, it took a great deal of time, patience and skill to make it what it is today.
We can not thank Loraine enough for the time and effort she has put in to make this container a work of art for many years to come.
If you are planning on visiting the Cellar Door, make sure you take time to have a look at the container close up to see the amount of detail that goes into something like this. You may be lucky enough to meet the artist herself.
